Rise of the Guardians

This was quite possibly one of the best christmas movies I've ever seen. There are countless metaphors and symbols involving the christianity of christmas as well as the death and resurrection of christ.

With a Russian santa and an Australian easter bunny, this movie also has an endless load of entertainment. The main character is Jack Frost who is chosen to be a Guardian. At fist he doesn't want to be, he is sort of lost because no one believes in him like they do in Santa, the Easter bunny, Sandman, or even the Boogeyman.

The metaphors or relations that I discovered in this movie were mostly about the bible figures of the trinity, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. At the very end of the movie I decided that the Moon was God because Jack Frost said the moon will tell you who you are, and you should always believe the moon. (Something along those lines.) Anyway, Santa, the Easter bunny, and Jack Frost were like the Holy Spirit because no one could see them unless they believed and although we can't see the Holy Spirit in this life there is still the aspect of seeing truth in what you believe.

The logic isn't perfect, but in this story the Sandman died when the Boogeyman attacked him and that reminds me of the crucifixion in a way. I hope this doesn't spoil the movie for you if you haven't seen it, but later the Sandman comes back to life when the children of the world start believing in him and the other Spirit figures. This totally resonated with me as the resurrection, not even to mention the coincidence that this the story was set during the time of easter which is the holiday of Jesus' resurrection.

So if you're like me, you will see many similarities between christianity and christmas in this movie. After all, Christmas is about Jesus' birth. That also reminds me, Jack frost was a little like Jesus being born because he became the Guardian just like Jesus was born as the salvation and guardian of mankind. (This almost sends chills down my spine) Whoever directed this film must have known about all of this. It's too close to a spiritual christian movie.

With that, I wish you a merry christmas and life full of everlasting joy with the father, son, and holy spirit, amen.

The Motions

There is a song called "The Motions" by MathewWest that I have heard on the radio many times. Today I heard it again and then they told the story of a man who heard the song how it changed his life.

On the radio Mathew West told this story of how a man came up to him at an event and told him:“I don’t want to take up much of your time, but I wanted to tell you how your song, The Motions, really impacted me and changed my life.“I was a very successful businessman, working my up the corporate ladder, getting all of the promotions and bonuses, etc. But my job required that I travel a great deal of the time. It was on those trips, usually late at night in the hotel room by myself, that I really felt the emptiness of running from what God wanted for my life and pursuing the things of this life.“Although I attended church regularly and did a lot of ‘church-people’ things, I knew I was just a ‘surface Christian’, not giving God all He wanted from me. When those feelings overwhelmed me, I would usually try to find a local Christian radio station and listen for a while to comfort myself.“One particular sleepless night, at 4:00 a.m., I came across a station that was playing your song, The Motions. That song just hit me like a ton of bricks, putting into words all that was going on inside me. And then the strangest thing happened, the DJ came on after the song and said, “We don’t normally do this, but I just have a feeling that someone out there listening needs to hear this song again. So here goes . . .”“Well, during the second playing of the song, I was literally crying on my bed. And then I made one of those ‘deals’ with God. I told God that I would quit my job and do whatever He wanted me to IF - and this was such an improbable ‘if’ that I felt safe saying it - your song played again.“As soon as the song finished, the DJ came on again and said, “I may lose my job for doing this – even at four in the morning - but something is telling me that someone needs to hear this song one more time. So, I’ll play it for a third time.”“When that song finished playing the third time, I got out the hotel stationary and wrote my resignation letter. I am now the associate pastor at the church where you will be playing tonight.”I copied the quotes from another blog; www.2b4him.com

I am Blessed

For so many reasons, I am blessed beyond the curse. I was once lost but now I am found. The organization in my mind is starting to set in. I'm starting to begin a process of realigning my heart with God and understanding what it means to be a true christian that involves a tight walk with the Lord. Now some of this might seem scary, and it can be scary actually when I'm trying to fear the Lord. Sometimes as christians we put emphasis on the word fear and don't see how much truly being afraid has to do with honoring a powerful and miraculous God.

One of the main reasons that I am reminded to think of our heavenly father is when I see something good happening in any circumstance especially if there would normally be more unpleasant circumstances. There are times when little annoyances bother me that trigger something in me to turn my behavior and attitude completely upside down. Those are the times when I can't believe the way I am acting. Then I am reminded of a God who I take for granted. I have so much to be thankful for. Why would I act in such a misguided manner when He is right beside me all of the time?

My God, you are remarkable and I never give you enough credit. Here is a message from me to you, I love you even if I don't seem like a good example to others I still care and you have my heart, there is no way for anyone to take it away from your mighty hands.

Bacon

Practically every meat eater loves bacon, simply because it has the taste of a pig flying through the galaxy into other universes of tasty goodness. I was at a county fair two weeks ago and saw a bunch of award winning pigs, some were huge, some were little babies, they were all pretty amazing. What I couldn't figure out is if I like knowing that bacon comes from pigs and I like eating bacon. I wouldn't want to eat bacon in front of a pig, for some reason I don't like knowing that I'm eating a living creature. Some people become vegetarian for that very reason. I suppose I can live with the fact that pigs are stinky, they don't sweat, they are unclean, and it is ok for me to eat their meat every once in a while even though it is covered in heart stopping grease.

Kevin Bacon fascinates me because of his last name, I wonder if he likes to eat bacon. The only movies I can recall seeing him in are Apollo 13, Friday the 13th, and X-Men First Class. He is a good actor, someone should give him a golden bacon strip trophy. I actually saw a statue of Kevin Bacon's head made out of real bacon. You can see it here. http://blog.seattlepi.com/thebigblog/2010/09/30/want-to-buy-a-statue-of-kevin-bacon-made-of-bacon

Balance

Balance is a good thing to have in life. Without it there can be sensory overload, or there can be boredom. A well balanced life has neither of these things. Someone who is always at a steady pace with excitement every now and then to spice things up. Even a good vacation can be balanced by giving it a purpose and learning about the culture of new places. It's never a good idea to just kick back for no reason at all.

Les arbres

When in winter, I see no sign of the trees bearing their color. They look lifeless and forgotten. My imagination anticipates memories, I see orange and green. I feel the warmth of spring in my mind, yet I refrain from the trust the trees deserve.

God is here

Inspiration hits you like a wave, leaving you with a decision to face. It may not be easy, and you'll make mistakes, but life keeps giving, no matter what it takes. Souls fear love will disappear, and hearts will be trampled in the rain. But God is here, he's come to take away the pain.
